It should not import font choices, colors, etc.\n\nThe cleaner your Word file is to begin with, the less cleanup you'll need to do to your book in Pressbooks.\n\nTo use the MS Word importer, see instructions below, and screenshots below that.\n

  1. Prepare your docx file:\u00a0First, using the Styles menu (not the formatting menu) in Word, make sure you apply NORMAL styling to the entire document; and apply Heading1 style to your chapter headings.<\/li>\n \t
  2. In Pressbooks, go to: Left Menu\/Tools \u2014> Import.<\/li>\n \t
  3. Select: File Type: docx<\/li>\n \t
  4. Choose your file from your computer<\/li>\n \t
  5. Upload<\/li>\n \t
  6. Select which content\/sections you want to import<\/li>\n \t
  7. Decide whether the content\/sections are: front-matter, chapters, or back-matter<\/li>\n \t
  8. Import<\/li>\n \t
  9. Arrange your chapters in the right order<\/li>\n \t
  10. Test some exports, clean up markup, and off you go!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
